When viewing copper metal sculptures, by other artists, which had motifs and designs imprinted on their surfaces, I imagined how to achieve a similar effect in cloth. "How would it look to use various metallic fabrics and quilt lines on wholecloth to achieve similar results?" This small quilt is a result of that exploration...and part of a series, "Metalworks".

By using metallic, cotton fabric and shimmering rayon threads, the motifs were "drawn" free-motion, using the machine as one would a pencil. The quilting stitch produces texture and depth, similar to the embossing of metal!
